Department of Traditional Arts conducts research and exploration of traditional arts like Paubha, Thangka paintings, manuscript illumination, mandala, pata chitra and wall paintings. The knowledge gained from the research is disseminated to traditional artists and other aspiring artists through workshops, seminars and training programs across the country. The department also facilitates to publish books on traditional Nepali arts. Such art forms are religious, narratives, magical and mystical. They are related to myth and rituals. Traditional art forms are not only aesthetic but also pragmatic. They have close connection to life and people. Thus, the department also aims to preserve traditional arts and support traditional artists.
