Department of Sculpture has been dedicated for the development of Nepali sculpture and sculptors. The Department conducts studies and research on the history of Nepali sculpture, shares the findings and new knowledge among other Nepali artists through national and international sculpture symposium, workshops and seminars, provides fellowship to the researchers, prepares research reports and publishes them in the form of books. The Department makes Nepali artists aware about modern and innovative trends and styles of sculpture across the world through talk programs with specialists and resource persons. It also assists artists to exhibit their sculptures. Sometimes, the Department organizes art activities in collaboration with other art institutions and organizations. The Department encourages artists to create various kinds of sculpture as traditional sculpture, modern sculpture, stone sculpture, terracotta, ceramics, woodcarving, metal sculpture, relief sculpture and free standing sculpture. Sculpture has three dimensions and provides tactile sensation. The member of Academic Council heads this Department.
