Department of Painting conducts studies and research on the genres of painting, disseminates new knowledge, skills, techniques and innovative trends in paintings among the Nepali artists across the country through seminars and workshops. The department facilitates the senior and younger artists to exhibit their paintings. It provides fellowship for the researchers in Nepali paintings. It has published a number of books in painting and art history. The department encourages the artists working in different media and forms of both modern and contemporary painting. Painting is two dimensional media which may have the illusion of three dimensions. The department attempts to explore and develop this form of art in conjunction with other artists and art organizations. The Department has been headed by the Member of Academic Council.
